I am ashamed to say I have never read any Sherlock Holmes books although I am planning on at some point. However I have seen the new film and the BBC modern adaptation. What is brilliant about both of these is the relationship between Holmes and Watson they are just like an old married couple they love to hate each other. What ensues when you get an opposite paring such as they are is comic genius and in both versions you can tell the actors were enjoying it emmensly. Anyway my Best Friend and I only had one lesson the other day so we spent the rest of the day sat at mine watching the BBC's Sherlock it was brilliant I would definately recommend both that and the Robert Downey Junior version (I don't know how close they are to the original book but sometimes it doesn't matter. Anyway it really made me smile and I'm going to leave you with what was voted the World's second funniest joke about this whimsical pair:
"Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson go on a camping trip, and after finishing their dinner they retire for the night, and go to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes wakes up and nudges his faithful friend. "Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see." "I see millions and millions of stars, Holmes" exclaims Watson. "And what do you deduce from that?" Watson ponders for a minute. "Well, astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo. Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three. Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful, and that we are a small and insignificant part of the universe. What does it tell you, Holmes?" "Watson, you idiot!" he exclaims, "Somebody's stolen our tent!"
